These vegan cheese flavour nachos recently popped up in the Tesco Free From section, so we decided to give them a try. These are quite a rarity, given that nearly all cheese flavoured crisps contain dairy. Read on to find out what we thought.
The bag cost £1, which we thought was pretty reasonable – not much more than a packet of plain tortilla chips. This is a bonus as ‘free from’ items can sometimes seem massively overpriced.
The flavour was pretty good – we’d describe it as a milder, less ‘tangy’ version of Tangy Cheese Doritos. They tasted even better dipped into salsa, and we can imagine they’d be a nice base for a meal with lots of toppings. There was no strange aftertaste, which was great, but we wouldn’t say they were amazing in terms of flavour.
If you’re looking for something to replace a cheese and onion flavour, then these probably won’t do the trick. While they’re reasonably nice, and would make a change once in a while, they definitely won’t be replacing plain nachos in our cupboard.
The ingredients (listed below) are pretty simple, so you could try seasoning your own tortilla chips if you don’t fancy buying these, or don’t live near to a Tesco.

I did come across these crisps recently and I placed them back on the shelf when I saw they contained palm oil .
WARNING
These things are super addictive.
Having recently discovered these in the free from isle, I hastily bought a couple of packs because I was sick of having every possible version of a BBQ crisp, so this was a very welcome surprise.
Since that day, these can be found in my trolley or basket upon every visit to Tesco, be it for a full shop or just picking up some essentials. They are like pringles in that once you pop you can’t stop.
Flavour is subtle, unlike cheese Dorito’s, the texture is the same as most tortilla chips, if you’ve ever had Tesco’s lightly salted tortilla chips, these are likely the same chip.
