This week we were lucky enough to be sent a bottle of Avocad Vegan Organic Salad Dressing to try. Avocad are based in the UK, and create artisanal dressings and dipping oils. Having never tried avocado oil, one of the main ingredients, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this product. The flavour was very unique, and a pleasant surprise!

The dressing comes in a nice bottle, with a handy pouring top. I tested it drizzled over a simple falafel salad, as well as on its own. The taste was unusual, different to any other salad dressing I’ve ever tried, and certainly unlike anything you’d be able to get hold of in the supermarket. Slightly spicy, although not overwhelmingly so, with a nice, sweet undertone.

The flavour was well balanced, and didn’t taste too much like any single ingredient – the dressing is made of avocado oil, coconut nectar, cayenne pepper, turmeric, raw apple cider vinegar, garlic, and celtic sea salt. Each of these ingredients can be subtly detected, without being overwhelming.

I offered the dressing to a non-vegan family member to taste as a dipping oil, and it was very well received. I am already planning the next dish to use this dressing in – the flavour is very versatile, and can be as spicy or mild as you wish depending on the amount used. The bottle suggests using with rice, salad, or potatoes, and I can also imagine that it would taste good with pasta, or in a sandwich or wrap.

This is a lovely, unique tasting dressing which would add a nice kick to a wide range of dishes. The fact that it is vegan, organic, and unprocessed makes it even better! It’s also great to know that by buying from Avocad, you’re supporting a vegan business in the UK.

You can check out the full range of Avocad products on their website, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
